Triathlon...check

I did it! I can officially call myself a triathlete. I finished my first and not last triathlon on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. I did better than I thought, although I had few expectations, only that I wanted to survive. Luckily for you, loyal readers, I am still alive.

Nicole and I before the race started setting up our transition area.

Checking out the Salem Pond, yes we swam in that.

Coach K and I, Kirst was our faithful swim teacher. Thanks Coach K!

Line up for the bathrooms, not well worth the wait.

My Dad came into town and surprised me right before the race.
I was so shocked, and may have cried just a little.

The swim, I'm most likely not in this picture because I had a few issues checking where I was going... I almost ended up back where we started. Oops.

Finally done with the swim, definitely need to train a little more in open water. I have pool swimming down, but struggles in a pond.

Bike portion not pictured, but I did ride 13 miles.

Sprinting to the finish line. The run went really well, I could have gone further.
I'm the one in the blue tank.

After all the hard work, training and racing. We did it!
We rocked it!

When should I do my next one?

Four weeks and counting...

In exactly 4 weeks from right now, I will have recently completed my first sprint triathlon. I am feeling positive about it, hence no disclaimers. I will finish.

Here is the rundown:
First: 800 meter swim (1/2 mile)
Second: 14 mile bike
Third: 5 k run (3.1 miles)

Yes, I'm doing all those things on the same day, with no breaks in between. Perhaps a crazy idea to some, but doing races keeps me motivated in my quest to be healthier and stronger. Going to the gym or going on a run becomes a bit more fun, when there is a goal on the horizon. Please wish me some strength and endurance, I'm going to need it.
